Beating Southam makes it 48 from 2

You wait all season for a win, and then two come along in two weeks. Brilliant.

Another fantastic game of cricket, with both teams having spells where they were on top. Ultimately the two overs we gave away let us get the maximum points. A fine innings from visiting skipper Hawkes nearly took the game away from us, but Jim Shirley’s demolition of the top order meant it was always an uphill battle for them.

We have three away games ‘on the bounce’ now and plenty of momentum going into them. Next stop, Camp Hill. Then Pickwick, then Warwick. Big games.

First win at Rowlands

- It’s a long way away
- We didn’t bat that well, but the umpires didn’t help
- Wario was the star of the top order
- The lower order saved us from 76-8 (Adam Coppell, Jim Shirley & Viz Parmar)
- We were happy to survive the fifty overs and get a batting point
- Jim Shirley likes running down the hill
- Rowland’s opener Carter had definitely hit the ball whilst we were appealing for LBW
- But when Neal caught it he suddenly changed his mind
- 50 for 0 off 20 chasing 129 is a good start
- But not good enough. Seven wickets for Jim and a nerveless spell from Ronny take us to 24 points
- GET IN!!!!

Second half of the season opener…

We began the second half of the season with a disappointing defeat at Wishaw, and another abandonment against Streetly (particularly frustrating given their league position was similar to ours) we still had plenty of work to do going into last week’s match away at Rowland United.
