The current spell of poor weather is perhaps an extreme case of what has happened in recent years. Although I do not keep historic result records, I seem to remember a couple of years ago August being a virtual washout.Obviously as well as the players disappointment at not getting their playing fix, the abandoned games will be seriously affecting club finances. 

The following are some thoughts I have for seasons to come in the WCL. These will be discussed at the next Cricket Sub committee meeting on July 27^th, in the meantime, however I would like you to discuss them within your clubs and speak to your division representative to give him your view before that meeting.Please on this matter, which is extremely urgent, do not let apathy take over. 

The basic idea is that our season would start on the 1^st Saturday in April and finish on the last Saturday in September. A fixture list would be produced for fixtures from the 1^st Saturday, therefore leaving dates at the end of the season to re-organise matches. If rain caused the complete abandonment of a game it could be played later, perhaps using Sundays and Bank Holidays as well. 

As I see it there are difficulties, perhaps when you express your view you could give your % of difficulty for your club in overcoming these, which I have identified so far.
