So Long 2006
Last Friday SMCC waved goodbye to a memorable 2006 season with the annual presentation evening. It was good to see the club full and everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy the evening. Especially pleasing was the number of Junior members and their families in the room. The speeches were excellent, with Keith Rondeau and Steve Mullard providing plenty of laughs with their reviews of the season.
The seasons prizes were awarded, with Martin Weir and Viz Parmar taking he 1st team awards, Jim Rasin did the double in the second team whilst Mo Farooq and Richard Whittle came out on top in the Third Team. Tim Westwood and Kamil Munir shared the most improved youngsters award in recognition of their 1st team breakthroughs and Rose Jones was awarded the Clubperson of the Year award following all of her hard work behind the scenes and on matchdays.
Credit to Pat Tarry and Steve Reynolds for all their work in organising the evening and to Jenny and her band of helpers for the magnificent buffet.
There was plenty of optimism in the room from all of the current captains so here’s to 2007.
